SoAT community letter
Dear Friends,
As you might have heard, the Board of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation recently reiterated their decision to not renew the Memorandum of Understanding that forms the basis on which our life at Taliesin and Taliesin West is based. They claim that this is a new decision, which is not true; they also claim that we have not provided them with any documents that show our path forward. This is also not true. They also did not communicate their latest “decision” to our Board or to me.
Since the Foundation informed us on January 25th of what they then said was their final decision, we have been overwhelmed by support from you and from the wider community. We are very grateful for those expressions (including almost 25,000 signatures on an online petition), as well as for the donations we have received. With the commitment of our students, faculty, staff, and alumni (including the Fellows), as well as our lenders, our accreditors, and our partners in the various projects we have deployed and are planning, we are moving forward to secure the future of the School of Architecture at Taliesin. We hope and trust you will be part of our programs in years to come.
Our Board is currently preparing a response to the Foundation’s latest. We can and will take actions that ensure that the School will continue the purpose for which Frank Lloyd and Olgivanna Wright left Taliesin and Taliesin West in the care of the Foundation.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like any further information and thank you again for all your support.
Sincerely,
Aaron Betsky President
